What are the main benefits of Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training?

Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training is a self-contained online course for company leadership, part of the Kaspersky Security Awareness portfolio. There is no management console and no agent: each participant works through the course on the Kaspersky platform, or through your own learning management system if you take the SCORM version.

Board-level language – Explains cyber risk without requiring technical vocabulary from managers.
Faster budget conversations – Gives IT and management a shared basis for decisions.
Crisis response preparation – Covers incident reaction, crisis plan and incident communication.
Fits busy schedules – Short lessons let executives train between meetings.
LMS integration – SCORM delivery keeps completion records inside your existing system.
Documented participation – Certificates give evidence of management-level awareness training.

Which company size is Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training suitable for?

The course is aimed at the people who decide on security budgets and who have to act during an incident, so the deciding factor is role rather than headcount. In a small company that is usually the owner; in a large company it is the board and the divisional heads, while the workforce needs a separate all-staff programme.

Does Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training meet the requirements of Swiss cybersecurity legislation?

The Swiss reporting obligation applies to operators of critical infrastructure, for example energy and water supply, transport companies, hospitals, cloud and data centre providers, and cantonal and municipal administrations, not to every company in Switzerland. Since 1 April 2025 these organisations must report a cyberattack to the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) within 24 hours of discovering it, with a further 14 days to complete the report; the revised Information Security Act (ISG) is the legal basis. This course supports the decision side of that duty: the module on managing the consequences of cyberattacks covers how to react, how a cyber crisis management plan is structured and how incident communication is handled, which is where the 24-hour window is usually lost while management is still deciding who owns the incident. It does not detect anything, produce logs, or supply the technical facts a report has to contain, so the underlying evidence still has to come from endpoint protection, EDR or a SIEM. It also does not tell you whether your organisation is in scope, since the exemptions are defined by sector and by threshold. This text is not legal advice; whether the reporting obligation applies to your organisation should be clarified with a qualified legal adviser.

Does Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training meet the requirements of European cybersecurity legislation?

No training course makes a company compliant with the NIS 2 Directive, because the directive asks for organisational measures, documented processes and accountable management, not for a purchased product. NIS 2 sets out categories of risk management measures including policies on risk analysis and information system security, incident handling, business continuity and crisis management, supply chain security, and basic cyber hygiene practices together with cybersecurity training. The directive also places responsibility on management bodies to approve and oversee those measures and requires them to follow training on cyber risk, and that is precisely the category this course addresses. Everything technical remains outside its scope: it delivers no detection, no vulnerability handling, no access control, no encryption and no evidence that any control is actually in place. It also covers only the leadership layer, so awareness training for the wider workforce has to be sourced separately.

What should you know about official assessments of Kaspersky?

On 20 June 2024 the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security issued a Final Determination prohibiting Kaspersky from providing anti-virus software and cybersecurity products or services to US persons; new sales ended on 20 July 2024 and the supply of updates on 29 September 2024. At the same time three Kaspersky entities were added to the Entity List, and the determination remains in force. Germany's Federal Office for Information Security has warned against the use of Kaspersky virus protection software since March 2022 and confirmed after the US measures that the warning still stands, although no sales ban exists in Germany. Kaspersky rejects the assessment, describing it as based on the geopolitical situation rather than on a technical evaluation of its products, and has stated publicly that the US decision does not affect its ability to sell threat intelligence offerings and training in the US. Independent laboratory testing concerns Kaspersky's protection products and is unaffected by these measures; it is also not directly relevant here, because this product is course content and installs nothing on your systems. In practice the assessments matter most for public sector tenders, for suppliers whose customers exclude Russian-origin vendors by policy, and for groups with US entities. Buyers outside those constraints should weigh it themselves.

Does Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training help with security questionnaires from large customers?

Partly, and only for a specific set of items. It answers the questions about whether management receives cybersecurity training, whether that training is documented, and whether leadership knows its role during an incident: the certificate of completion is usable as evidence, and the SCORM version keeps completion records in your own LMS where an auditor expects to find them. It does not answer the items that make up most of a questionnaire, including endpoint protection coverage, patch levels, encryption of mobile devices, multi-factor authentication, log retention, backup testing, phishing simulation results, and awareness coverage across the whole workforce. It also produces no metric on staff behaviour, because there is no simulation component. To close the training gap for all employees, the cheaper route is usually the Kaspersky Automated Security Awareness Platform from the same portfolio, which handles group assignment, phishing simulation and administrative reporting; the technical items need endpoint or EDR products rather than more training.

Best antivirus? Why Windows Defender alone is not enough
Sets out where built-in protection stops, which is the technical gap a training course cannot close.

Which limitations should you know before buying?

The most important limitation is scope: this is educational content for management and contains no protection software, no central console, no policy management and no reporting dashboard over the organisation. Regional availability is restricted, because the US determination prohibits the supply of Kaspersky cybersecurity products and services to US persons; Kaspersky's own position is that training is not covered by it, so buyers with US entities should confirm the position for their group before rolling the course out there. There is no phishing simulation and no automatic assignment of learners to groups, both of which sit in the Automated Security Awareness Platform instead, which is the most common reason for a follow-up purchase. The SCORM option only helps if you already run a learning management system; without one, participants work on the Kaspersky cloud platform and completion tracking stays there. Finally, the course is sold as a base licence, not as a renewal, so it does not extend or refresh an existing training entitlement.

Frequently asked questions about Kaspersky Cybersecurity for Executives Online Training

Do participants need technical knowledge?

No. The course was built for non-technical decision makers and deliberately avoids specialist vocabulary, which is the point of the format. Attackers' tools and attack types are explained at the level a manager needs in order to judge risk and question an IT proposal, not at the level needed to operate a security tool.

What does Base mean for this product?

Base identifies the initial licence rather than a renewal or an add-on. It does not require an existing Kaspersky training entitlement and it does not depend on any other Kaspersky product being installed in your company.

Can the course run inside our own learning system?

Yes. Alongside access to the Kaspersky cloud platform, the programme is available as a SCORM package for integration into a company learning management system. That is the option to choose if training records for management have to sit in the same system as the rest of your staff training.
