What are the main benefits of Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced?

Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced is the on-premises edition for small businesses that protects Windows clients, Windows servers, Macs and Microsoft Exchange servers from one Security Server installed in your own network. It is the successor to Worry-Free Business Security 9.x and adds email security for Exchange on top of the Standard edition.

Management data stays local – Console, policies and detection logs stay on a server you operate.
Mail filtered on Exchange – Spam, risky attachments and unwanted content stopped before reaching mailboxes.
Outbound email DLP – Data loss prevention rules detect confidential content in outgoing Exchange messages.
Current Windows support – A February 2026 patch added Windows 11 25H2 and Windows Server 2025.
Bandwidth-saving updates – Local Scan Server and Update Agents reduce pattern download traffic between sites.
Partner remote management – Optional Remote Manager Agent lets an IT service partner monitor installations.

Which company size is Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced suitable for?

Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced is built for small businesses that run their own Windows server and a single on-premises Exchange server, usually without a dedicated security team. Medium-sized companies with several sites can use it, but Trend Micro recommends a separate Security Server per managed site, and there is no EDR component for incident investigation. Large companies and Exchange environments using database availability groups are outside the product's design.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced meet the requirements of Swiss cybersecurity legislation?

Since 1 April 2025, the revised Information Security Act (ISG) has obliged operators of critical infrastructure, such as energy suppliers, hospitals, financial institutions and public authorities, to report cyberattacks to the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) within 24 hours of discovery; most small businesses outside these sectors are not directly affected. For affected operators, Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced supplies part of the basis for such a report: the Security Server logs every detection with endpoint and time, and email notifications alert administrators as soon as an agent reports a threat. It does not provide the attack timeline, root-cause analysis or forensic telemetry of an EDR component, so establishing how an attacker got in and which systems were affected requires additional tools or an incident response provider. The product also contains no reporting workflow to BACS; the report itself remains an organisational task. This information does not constitute legal advice; for a binding assessment of your obligations, consult a qualified legal professional.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced meet the requirements of European cybersecurity legislation?

No software product makes an organisation compliant with the NIS 2 Directive, because the directive requires risk management measures that management must approve and oversee. The measure categories NIS 2 lists include incident handling, business continuity and backup, supply chain security, vulnerability handling, basic cyber hygiene, cryptography, access control and multi-factor authentication. Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced supports the cyber hygiene and incident detection part: malware protection on clients and servers, email filtering on Exchange, web filtering and device control, with central logs showing that these controls are active. It does not cover patch and vulnerability management, encryption, multi-factor authentication, backup or detailed incident investigation, and the early warning to the competent authority within 24 hours remains an organisational process. Entities in scope therefore have to close these gaps with additional measures and products.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced help with security questionnaires from large customers?

Yes for the malware protection section of a typical supplier questionnaire, but several standard items remain unanswered. The product lets you confirm centrally managed antivirus on Windows clients, servers and Macs, email filtering for malware, spam and risky attachments on Exchange, web filtering, control of USB storage, and centrally collected detection logs that can be produced as reports. It does not let you confirm EDR or managed detection and response, patch management for operating systems and third-party software, full-disk encryption of notebooks, multi-factor authentication, mobile device protection, or protection for Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online mailboxes. There is no higher on-premises Worry-Free edition that adds these functions, and Trend Micro positions its EDR and XDR capabilities in its cloud-managed product lines. If a customer requires EDR, check the current Trend Micro cloud offering before combining this product with a second vendor's agent; patching, encryption and MFA usually require separate tools in either case.

What is the difference between Worry-Free Business Security Standard and Worry-Free Business Security Advanced?

The decisive difference is the Messaging Security Agent: only Advanced protects Microsoft Exchange servers. Both editions use the same Security Agent for Windows clients and servers, including firewall, web reputation, URL filtering, behaviour monitoring, predictive machine learning and device control. Standard scans POP3 mail on the endpoint, while Advanced adds IMAP scanning, email content filtering, email data loss prevention and attachment blocking. Without an on-premises Exchange server, Advanced adds little beyond IMAP scanning.

Which limitations should you know before buying?

The Messaging Security Agent supports on-premises Exchange Server only up to version 2016 and does not support Exchange enterprise features such as database availability groups; for Exchange Server 2019, Trend Micro recommends ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange instead, and Microsoft 365 mailboxes are not covered. Every Exchange version the agent supports has reached end of support at Microsoft, and Trend Micro links its own support to the platform vendor's lifecycle, so companies planning an Exchange migration should budget for different mail protection. There is no agent for Linux, Android or iOS, and Mac protection runs through the separate Trend Micro Security (for Mac) component. The English version of 10.0 SP1 is no longer sold in Australia and New Zealand, while Trend Micro lists the European versions, including German, French and Italian, as supported without an announced end-of-life date. Installing the Security Agent disables Microsoft Defender Antivirus, so the two do not run side by side.

Frequently asked questions about Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced

Is Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced still maintained?

Yes. Patch 2519, released in February 2026, updated the bundled Apache web server to version 2.4.65 and closed potential vulnerabilities, and Trend Micro's lifecycle list of September 2026 shows version 10.0 SP1 as supported in Europe.

Can an existing Worry-Free installation be upgraded to version 10?

Version 10.0 SP1 upgrades directly from versions 10.0, 9.x and 8.x while keeping agent settings. Installations of version 7.x or older, as well as OfficeScan and ScanMail installations, cannot be upgraded and require a fresh installation.
