Short Description

Open HTML

One workstation, two one-time purchases: the operating system underneath and the desktop Office suite on top, for a PC that is being set up or rebuilt.

Microsoft Windows 11 Professional – The operating system with BitLocker drive encryption, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox and Remote Desktop hosting. Those are among the capabilities Windows 11 Home does not offer; office applications are not part of the operating system.

Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access as installed desktop programs. Access is what separates Professional Plus from the smaller 2024 editions; Publisher is gone from this generation and Teams is not preinstalled.

Why buy Windows 11 Pro and Office 2024 Pro Plus together?

Microsoft names Windows 11 as a supported operating system for Office LTSC 2024, and standard Windows 10 is no longer on that list, so on a machine being rebuilt this pair is the documented combination rather than an assumed one. Windows 11 Pro then covers three areas Office 2024 leaves out by design, because this Office generation carries no cloud-backed features: encryption of the local files, isolated testing, and remote access to the machine that holds them.

Documented pairing – Windows 11 is listed for Office LTSC 2024.
Encrypted local files – BitLocker protects documents Office stores only locally.
Remote workstation access – Windows 11 Pro can host Remote Desktop sessions.
Office policy control – Group Policy Editor is missing from Home.
Isolated testing – Hyper-V and Sandbox open unknown attachments safely.
Combined price – Lower than the two keys bought separately.

Do Office 2024 Pro Plus and Windows 11 Pro work together?

Yes. Microsoft currently names Windows 11, Windows 11 LTSC 2024, Windows 10 LTSC 2021, Windows 10 LTSC 2019, Windows Server 2025 and Windows Server 2022 as the supported operating systems for Office LTSC 2024. Standard Windows 10, which was still on that list at launch, has since been removed, which is the practical reason these two products are sold together for machines that are being set up or replaced. Pairing the operating system and the Office generation in one step avoids installing a suite onto a system that is no longer listed underneath it.

Windows compatibility with Office - supported Windows and Windows Server versions for Office 2010 to Office 2024
To check which Windows version fits which Office generation, read our overview:

How does Windows 11 Pro protect the files Office 2024 creates?

Through BitLocker Drive Encryption, which Microsoft lists for the Pro, Enterprise and Education editions but not for Home. This matters more with Office 2024 than with a Microsoft 365 installation, because this Office generation includes no cloud-backed storage: the Word documents, Excel workbooks, Outlook data files and Access databases stay on the local disk. On a notebook that leaves the office, an encrypted system drive is what stops a stolen machine from becoming a readable archive of your correspondence. Windows 11 Home is not left unencrypted, but it offers only Device Encryption, which switches on automatically for the OS and fixed drives without the per-drive selection, removable-drive encryption and management tools that come with BitLocker.

Can I reach the Office workstation from another computer?

Yes, because Windows 11 Pro can act as the Remote Desktop host. Microsoft states that the PC you connect to must run a Windows Pro edition, while the device you connect from can run Home or another operating system entirely. Office 2024 Professional Plus has no real-time collaboration, and an Access database cannot be opened in a browser at all, so a remote session is the realistic way to reach an Excel model or an .accdb file that lives on the office machine while you are somewhere else. On a Windows 11 Home PC, the Remote Desktop host role is not available.

In which order should the two products be installed?

Set up Windows 11 Professional first, then install Office 2024 Professional Plus into the finished system. Doing it the other way round means installing the suite twice, because a clean Windows setup erases the system volume together with the program files and registry entries Office writes. Microsoft also states that earlier Office versions should be removed before Office LTSC 2024 is deployed, which is far simpler on a freshly installed Windows than on a system carrying an older suite. It is worth switching BitLocker on before you copy over document archives and Outlook data files, so those files are written to a volume that is already encrypted instead of triggering a full-drive encryption pass afterwards.

Who is this bundle best suited for?

It fits a PC that is being built or rebuilt from scratch and needs both the system and the office suite at once. The case it covers better than a smaller Office edition is local database work: Access is included in Professional Plus and in none of the consumer Office 2024 editions, so a workshop, practice or small firm that keeps its parts list, patient records or order book in an .accdb file gets the database application, plus a way to test a changed database or an unfamiliar attachment inside Hyper-V or Windows Sandbox before it touches the live data. A Hyper-V guest system needs its own operating system licence, which is not part of this bundle. If nobody in the company touches a database file, that argument does not apply and a smaller Office edition is the more sensible purchase.

When is it better to buy the two products separately?

Whenever you already own one half. A PC already running Windows 11 Professional gains nothing from a second operating system, so only the Office key is needed, and the same applies in reverse to a machine that already carries a current Office suite. If the PC will never encrypt a drive per volume, host a remote session or run a virtual machine, Windows 11 Home covers the operating system side and Office 2024 Professional Plus can be bought on its own, because Microsoft lists Windows 11 as supported for Office LTSC 2024 without naming a particular edition. Buyers who never open a database file should also compare Professional Plus against the smaller 2024 editions before taking the bundle.

To decide whether the Professional edition is worth it for your machine, read our guide:

What is not included in this bundle?

Publisher and Teams. Microsoft removed Publisher from this Office generation because the application is being retired and will no longer be supported after October 2026, and Teams is not preinstalled with the suite but offered as a separate download. Office 2024 Professional Plus also carries none of the cloud-backed part of Microsoft 365: no real-time collaboration, no AI-driven automation, and none of the hybrid-work security and compliance tooling. Two smaller changes catch people out in practice: the Publish to Power BI command has been removed from Excel, and ActiveX controls are disabled by default and have to be re-enabled deliberately. Access, which is included, runs on Windows only and is not part of the macOS version.

Frequently asked questions about Win 11 Pro Keys & Microsoft Office 2024 Pro Plus

Does Windows 11 Pro already contain an Office version?

No. Windows 11 Professional contains no Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access, which is why the office suite is the second half of this bundle. Windows 11 does preinstall the new Outlook app for mail, but that is a mail client only and not the classic Outlook desktop application that comes with Office 2024 Professional Plus.

Does Office 2024 Pro Plus also run on Windows 11 Home?

Yes. Microsoft lists Windows 11 as a supported operating system for Office LTSC 2024 without restricting it to a particular edition. The Professional edition in this bundle adds BitLocker, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, Remote Desktop hosting and the Group Policy Editor, none of which are needed to run the Office applications themselves.

Is Microsoft Access part of Office 2024 Professional Plus?

Yes. Microsoft lists Access alongside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote for Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024, and it is not part of the consumer Office 2024 editions. Access is available on Windows only and is not included in the macOS version, so a database file created here cannot be opened on a Mac.
