What are the main benefits of DVDFab Hi-Fi Audio Converter?

DVDFab Hi-Fi Audio Converter extracts the soundtrack from music Blu-rays and concert discs and saves it as lossless FLAC or WAV. It runs as a profile set inside the Ripper module on Windows and Mac, rather than as a general file converter.

Audiophile quality – Keeps 24-bit depth and the source sample rate.
Disc-free listening – Play concert audio without loading the disc.
Surround support – Multi-channel FLAC and WAV for 5.1/7.1.
Track navigation – CUE file jumps between songs instantly.
Flexible splitting – Export one file or per-chapter tracks.
Library ready – Output plays on phones, cars, media servers.

What does DVDFab Hi-Fi Audio Converter do?

It converts music Blu-rays into lossless audio files in FLAC or WAV. It reads Blu-ray discs, ISO images, and folders, and exports stereo or multi-channel tracks at 24-bit with sample rates up to 192 kHz. This lets you move a concert disc's audio into a regular music library and play it on a phone or media server without keeping the Blu-ray in the drive. The source always has to be a Blu-ray; it does not transcode existing audio files or rip audio CDs.

Which formats and channel layouts does it output?

It outputs two lossless formats, FLAC and WAV, through four fixed profiles: FLAC Stereo, FLAC Multi-Channel, WAV Stereo, and WAV Multi-Channel. Channel options range from stereo up to 5.1 and 7.1 surround, and bit depth stays at 24-bit. Codec, bit rate, and bit depth are tied to the profile you pick and cannot be changed freely, while sample rate can be set up to 192 kHz. Choose FLAC Multi-Channel for surround at smaller sizes than WAV, or FLAC Stereo for a compact two-channel library.

Can it convert MP3, rip audio CDs, or transcode existing files?

No. The Hi-Fi Audio profiles only accept Blu-ray sources and only produce lossless FLAC or WAV, so they will not convert an existing MP3, AAC, or WAV file and will not rip an audio CD. If you need lossy output such as MP3, AAC, M4A, or OGG, those profiles sit in the wider Blu-ray Ripper module, not in the Hi-Fi Audio set. For routine file-to-file conversion you would need separate software. This keeps the tool focused on archiving music Blu-rays at full quality rather than acting as an all-purpose converter.

What is the CUE file used for?

The CUE file is an index that stores each track's metadata, including artist, title, and duration, so one large audio file can still be navigated track by track. DVDFab creates it automatically when Split mode is off and the whole Blu-ray is exported as a single file. This suits albums and live concerts where you want continuous playback but still need to jump to a specific song. If you turn on chapter Split instead, each track becomes its own file and no CUE file is produced.

Do I need the full DVDFab suite, and how does it differ from the Blu-ray Ripper?

The Hi-Fi Audio Converter is not a separate program but a set of four profiles inside DVDFab's Ripper module, reached through Format then Hi-Fi Audio. In DVDFab 13 it is bundled into the Ripper and needs no extra purchase on top of it. The standalone Hi-Fi product concentrates only on lossless FLAC and WAV output, while the broader Blu-ray Ripper adds lossy formats such as MP3 and AAC plus full video ripping. Choose the standalone module if your only goal is archiving music Blu-rays in lossless quality.

Does it run on Mac as well as Windows?

Yes, DVDFab Hi-Fi Audio Converter is available for both Windows and macOS. The workflow is identical on each: load a Blu-ray disc, ISO, or folder, choose a Hi-Fi Audio profile, then export to FLAC or WAV. This matters if your music library lives on a Mac and you want lossless rips without switching to a Windows machine. The four profiles and the 24-bit, up-to-192 kHz output are the same across both platforms.

Frequently asked questions about DVDFab Hi-Fi Audio Converter

Does it decrypt protected music Blu-rays?

Yes. The Ripper module decrypts the Blu-ray before pulling the audio, so commercial, protected music and concert discs can be read and exported to FLAC or WAV. The source still has to be a Blu-ray disc, ISO image, or folder.

Where are the converted audio files saved?

You can set any output folder before converting, and on Windows the default location is the Documents folder. Sending the output to an external drive is useful when archiving large multi-channel WAV files, which are bigger than the equivalent FLAC.
