What are the main benefits of Bitdefender Password Manager?

Is Bitdefender Password Manager still available in 2026?

The standalone Bitdefender Password Manager reached end of life on June 15, 2026 and is now delivered as Bitdefender SecurePass, its direct successor. Data moves across by exporting from the old app and importing into SecurePass, and existing Bitdefender subscriptions that included Password Manager receive SecurePass at no extra cost. SecurePass adds password sharing, two-factor authentication on individual entries and a browser-based web client. A key sold as Bitdefender Password Manager therefore provides the SecurePass service.

Which devices and browsers does it support?

SecurePass runs on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, with browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari and a web client at securepass.bitdefender.com. There is no native desktop application and no Linux support, so on a computer you work through the browser extension or the web client rather than a standalone program. Chromebooks are not officially supported. The web client mirrors the extension except that it cannot autofill or automatically save new logins.

How does Bitdefender Password Manager keep passwords secure?

All vault data is encrypted and decrypted locally with AES-256-CCM, SHA512 and BCRYPT, so only your master password can read it. Bitdefender does not store that master password, which means that even if its servers were breached, attackers would see unreadable ciphertext rather than usable logins. This zero-knowledge model is why account recovery depends on your recovery key instead of a Bitdefender password reset. It is a real safeguard if one of your reused passwords is exposed in a breach.

Can I import passwords from another manager?

Yes. SecurePass imports from 13 sources including 1Password, LastPass, Dashlane, Bitwarden, KeePass, RoboForm, Kaspersky and the Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers, using CSV, JSON, XML, TXT, 1PIF and FSK files. You export a file from your current tool, upload it in SecurePass settings, and the entries appear in a folder named Import that you can reorganise afterwards. Exports from SecurePass can themselves be password-protected. This matters when you leave another paid manager and do not want to re-enter dozens of logins by hand.

What happens if I forget my master password?

You reset it with the recovery key that SecurePass generates during setup and lets you save as a PDF. Enter the recovery key on the login screen, set a new master password, and your vault stays intact. If you lose both the master password and the recovery key, support can reset the account, but that permanently erases everything stored in the vault. Because of this, keeping the recovery key PDF somewhere safe is the single most important step after installation.

Frequently asked questions about Bitdefender Password Manager

Can it store more than passwords?

Yes. Alongside logins it holds payment cards for checkout autofill, identity profiles for filling web forms, and encrypted secure notes for items such as Wi-Fi keys, software licences or passport details. Every item is encrypted locally and can be colour-coded, so sensitive records stay in the same vault as your passwords instead of in a plain document.

Who can I share passwords with?

SecurePass supports encrypted sharing with individual people, with groups, or through a generated link, so a recipient can use a login without seeing the characters. This suits a shared streaming account or a household Wi-Fi login where you want to grant access without sending the password in plain text over chat or email. Password sharing is a SecurePass addition that the older Bitdefender Password Manager did not offer.
