What does Avast SecureLine VPN do?

Avast SecureLine VPN encrypts your device's internet traffic with AES-256 and sends it through an Avast server, replacing your real IP with a shared virtual one. In daily use, this stops the coffee-shop or hotel network you are on from seeing which sites you visit, and it lets you appear to browse from another country. It supports the OpenVPN and WireGuard protocols, plus Avast's own Mimic protocol on Windows for networks that block standard VPN traffic. It is built for everyday privacy rather than advanced setups, so there is no Linux client, router firmware, or SOCKS5 proxy.

Is Avast SecureLine VPN data unlimited, and does it include P2P support?

Yes on both counts, with one condition. The paid SecureLine VPN provides unlimited bandwidth with no monthly data cap, so streaming and large downloads never hit a quota. Peer-to-peer file sharing is permitted, but only through Avast's designated torrenting servers in a limited set of data-center locations, not across the whole network. If you connect to a non-P2P server, torrent traffic typically fails, so you must select a location marked for P2P inside the app.

Can Avast SecureLine VPN unblock Netflix and other streaming services?

Not reliably. In independent testing, Avast SecureLine VPN fails to unblock most major streaming catalogs, including Netflix US, and connects with only a handful of services. If watching region-locked libraries is your main goal, this is the weakest part of the product and a dedicated streaming VPN will serve you better. It stays useful for general privacy and for reaching your home region's content while travelling, where lighter geo-checks apply.

Which devices and platforms does Avast SecureLine VPN support?

It runs on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, and a single Multi-Device subscription can be active on up to ten devices at once. There is no native app for Linux, routers, gaming consoles, or Amazon Fire TV, so you cannot protect an entire home network from one VPN connection. On Windows and macOS you also get Smart VPN Mode, which can auto-connect the VPN when you open a banking site or join an unsecured Wi-Fi network. If you need to cover hardware that only accepts a router-level VPN, SecureLine is not the right fit.

Does Avast SecureLine VPN keep logs of your activity?

Avast states it does not log your browsing history, the sites you visit, or the content you transfer. It does retain some connection metadata such as timestamps and bandwidth used, and its no-logs claim has not been confirmed by an independent third-party audit. For most users who want privacy from an ISP or a public network this is adequate, but anyone needing audited, court-tested anonymity should weigh that gap first. Avast is based in the Czech Republic, which sits outside the core surveillance-alliance countries.

Does Avast SecureLine VPN include split tunneling and a kill switch?

The kill switch is included on the desktop apps and blocks all internet traffic if the VPN connection drops, preventing your real IP from leaking mid-session. Split tunneling, which routes only chosen apps through the VPN, is limited to the Android app, so Windows and macOS users cannot exclude selected apps from the tunnel. Both apps include DNS leak protection to keep lookups inside the encrypted connection. If per-app routing on desktop matters to your workflow, this is a concrete limitation to confirm before purchase.
