Stellar Toolkit for Exchange is a five-in-one technician suite that repairs damaged Exchange databases and pulls mailbox data out of EDB, OST, and backup files. Because it works without a live Exchange Server, administrators can rescue mailboxes even when the original server will not mount.
One Console – Five Exchange recovery tools, single launcher.
No Live Exchange – Recovers data without a running server.
Direct Cloud Export – Moves recovered mailboxes into Office 365.
Granular Restore – Recovers single mailboxes, items, or folders.
Flexible Output – Saves to PST, MSG, EML, PDF.
Delta Migration – Re-runs transfers without duplicating moved items.
Stellar Toolkit for Exchange bundles five separate Exchange utilities — Repair for Exchange, Converter for EDB, Converter for OST, the Backup Extractor, and Password Recovery for MS Exchange — into one launcher (version 12.1, released November 2025). It repairs corrupt or dismounted EDB files and exports the recovered mailboxes to PST, EML, MSG, RTF, HTML, or PDF, or straight into a live Exchange Server or Office 365 tenant. The toolkit runs without a working Exchange installation, which is what lets it read an EDB from a decommissioned or crashed server. It can also extract Contacts and the full Global Address List to CSV for reuse in other systems.
It is aimed at Exchange administrators and IT support staff who deal with database corruption, dirty-shutdown errors, and mailbox extraction rather than at everyday Outlook users. A typical job is recovering mailboxes after ESEUTIL fails to mount a damaged database, or pulling one user's mailbox out of an old BKF backup without rebuilding the whole Exchange environment. The priority-queue option lets an admin push critical mailboxes, such as executive accounts, to the front of a recovery run. Because it also converts OST files, it helps when a cached mailbox is the only surviving copy after a profile or sync failure.
Stellar Repair for Exchange is the single EDB-repair tool, while the Toolkit wraps four more utilities around it. The standalone repair product gives you database repair and export to PST, live Exchange, or Office 365, but not OST conversion, backup (BKF/VHDX) extraction, or Windows Server password reset. The Toolkit is the better choice when your work spans more than EDB repair alone, for example when you also need to recover mailboxes from a damaged backup file. The table below shows what each option includes.
| Capability | Stellar Repair for Exchange | Stellar Toolkit for Exchange |
|---|---|---|
| EDB repair | ✓ | ✓ |
| Export to Microsoft 365 | ✓ | ✓ |
| OST to PST | ✕ | ✓ |

The bundled Stellar Password Recovery for MS Exchange resets the Windows Server login password only on Server 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2012; it does not cover Server 2016, 2019, or 2022, and it does not reset Exchange mailbox or Office 365 account passwords. The whole suite is Windows-only, with no macOS or Linux build, and is operated from a Windows desktop or Windows Server machine. It is a recovery and conversion toolkit, not a scheduled-backup product, so it does not create or automate ongoing Exchange backups by itself. Knowing this in advance avoids buying it for password tasks or backup automation it was never built to handle.
On the input side it reads Exchange EDB files, Outlook OST files, and BKF or VHDX backup files, including their STM and transaction-log data. Recovered mailboxes can be saved as PST, MSG, EML, RTF, HTML, or PDF, and Contacts or the Global Address List can be exported separately to CSV. It can also write directly into a live Exchange Server or an Office 365 mailbox, using incremental (delta) transfer that re-runs only the items still missing to prevent duplicates. There is no fixed file-size cap on the databases or backups it will process.
Yes. When a database enters a dirty-shutdown state after an abrupt server stop and ESEUTIL cannot bring it back, Stellar Repair for Exchange scans the EDB and restores it to a usable state. The recovered mailboxes can then be exported to PST or pushed straight to a live Exchange or Office 365 mailbox.
Yes. The toolkit can extract mailboxes that were deleted from the Exchange server and save them to a PST file, which can then be re-imported into live Exchange or Office 365. This skips the manual cmdlet process of reconnecting a deleted mailbox to a mail-disabled user account.
Yes. Stellar Repair for Exchange, Stellar Converter for EDB, and the Mailbox Extractor can each export Public Folders to PST, a live Exchange Server, or Office 365 across supported Exchange versions. This helps when shared calendars and team folders need to move alongside individual user mailboxes during a recovery or migration.
