AOMEI Backupper Technician Plus creates image backups of complete Windows systems, disks, partitions and individual files, and restores them after hardware failure, ransomware damage or user error. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 and 7 as well as Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 and SBS 2011. Beyond backup, it includes disk and system cloning, file sync with real-time and two-way modes, disk wipe, and an image deployment tool for rolling out one prepared system to multiple computers over the local network. In practice, an IT team can image a reference PC once and use that image both as a restore point and as a deployment template for new machines.
It is aimed at IT administrators and managed service providers who maintain mixed fleets of Windows PCs and servers under one company. The license explicitly permits offering billable technical support as a service to clients, which lower editions of the product do not allow. The portable version is the practical differentiator for field work: a technician can copy the program to a USB drive and run backups or clones directly on a customer's computer without installing anything. A single-PC home user does not need this scope and is better served by the Professional edition.
The decisive difference is server support: Technician covers unlimited Windows PCs only, while Technician Plus additionally covers unlimited Windows Server installations, including Server 2012 through 2025 and SBS 2011. Both editions include the billable-service right, the portable version and priority technical support. If even one machine in your environment runs a Windows Server operating system, Technician Plus is the edition you need.

Yes, the included Universal Restore function restores a system image to a machine with dissimilar hardware and adjusts drivers so Windows boots on the new configuration. This matters when a workstation or server fails completely and no identical replacement is available: you restore the existing image to whatever hardware you have on hand instead of rebuilding the system manually. The same function supports physical-to-virtual migration, so a backed-up physical machine can be brought up as a virtual machine. Combined with bootable WinPE media or the PXE boot tool, this allows bare-metal recovery on computers that no longer start.
AOMEI Backupper Technician Plus is Windows-only software; macOS is handled by a separate AOMEI Backupper Mac product, and Linux systems are not supported. Each installation is managed locally on the machine itself: the centralized remote-management console, AOMEI Backupper Central, is a separate product and is not part of this license. Cloud storage for the Cloud Backup function is an optional add-on rather than an included quota. Application-aware database backup, such as Microsoft SQL backup, belongs to AOMEI's Cyber Backup and Central products, so plan for image-level backups of database servers instead.
The combination of scheduling, incremental backups and automatic cleanup keeps recurring protection running without manual attention: old image versions are deleted by cycle or count, so backup disks do not silently fill up. Email notification reports the result of every backup or sync task, which is how administrators monitor dozens of machines without logging into each one. The command line utility and pre/post commands let you embed backup jobs into existing scripts, for example stopping a service before imaging and restarting it afterwards. For migrations, system clone moves an installed Windows environment from HDD to SSD with correct partition alignment, avoiding a full reinstall.
Yes, it backs up emails, contacts, notes, calendars and tasks from the Outlook desktop client to a local, external or network drive. Gmail, Hotmail and other accounts added to Outlook are covered by the same task.
Backups can be written to internal and external disks, USB flash drives, NAS and network shares, CD/DVD and cloud drives. This makes it straightforward to keep one local copy and one off-machine copy of the same backup task.
Yes, backup encryption is included, and the Explore Image tool mounts .adi and .afi image files so individual files can be viewed and copied directly in Windows Explorer. Image check and merge functions verify integrity and consolidate incremental chains.
It does not block ransomware itself, but offline image backups and the recovery environment allow a compromised system to be rolled back to a clean pre-infection state. The disk wipe tool can additionally erase an infected drive completely before restoring.
