What are the main benefits of BullGuard Premium Protection?

BullGuard Premium Protection was the flagship tier of BullGuard's three security suites, layering identity monitoring and a home network scanner on top of its core antivirus. The brand is now end-of-life, and its subscriptions are handled under Norton.

Layered Malware Defense – Stops known and zero-day threats automatically
Network Visibility – Shows every device on your home network
Identity Monitoring – Alerts you when personal data leaks online
Lighter Gaming Impact – Game Booster frees resources during play
Family Controls – Limits sites, apps and children's screen time
Norton Continuity – Remaining protection carries over to Norton

What does BullGuard Premium Protection do?

BullGuard Premium Protection is the top edition of BullGuard's lineup, sitting above Antivirus and Internet Security. It pairs a behavioral anti-malware engine with cloud-based machine learning to catch both known malware and previously unseen samples. Beyond the standard suite, it adds a Home Network Scanner that maps and security-checks every device on your Wi-Fi, plus an Identity Protection service that watches for leaked personal details such as email addresses, card numbers, and phone numbers. It also includes Game Booster, which moves background processes onto a single core so games keep the remaining CPU resources.

Is BullGuard Premium Protection still sold and supported?

No. As of 25 July 2022, the manufacturer stopped selling BullGuard products and no longer supports them. BullGuard became part of NortonLifeLock (now Gen), and existing subscriptions were migrated to an equivalent Norton plan at the same price, with any remaining days preserved. The old BullGuard account is reached through Norton using the original BullGuard email and password. Before buying any BullGuard Premium Protection key, confirm with the seller whether it can still be redeemed, because the brand is end-of-life and may route you directly to Norton.

Does BullGuard Premium Protection include a VPN?

No. None of the BullGuard security suites — Antivirus, Internet Security, or Premium Protection — bundled a VPN. BullGuard sold its VPN as a separate product, so encrypted tunneling on public Wi-Fi is not part of this package. If anonymous browsing or location masking matters to you, you would need a standalone VPN alongside it. This trips up many buyers, since several rival "premium" suites now ship VPN data as a standard inclusion.

How is Premium Protection different from BullGuard Internet Security?

Premium Protection contains everything in Internet Security and adds exactly two modules: the Home Network Scanner and Identity Protection. The shared base includes the same antivirus engine, firewall management, parental controls, secure browser, PC tune-up, and cloud backup. The protection engine itself is identical between the two editions; the premium tier only layers on network mapping and leak monitoring. If you do not need device discovery or identity alerts, Internet Security delivered the same core defense.

Is the identity protection available in every country?

No. BullGuard's Identity Protection was offered in only a limited set of countries: the US, UK, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Outside those regions the feature that most separates Premium Protection from Internet Security simply does not run. For buyers in Asia, Latin America, Africa, and much of Europe, the practical gap between the two top editions narrows to the Home Network Scanner. Check your country against that list before paying extra for the premium tier.

What should you check before choosing BullGuard Premium Protection today?

Because BullGuard is discontinued, first confirm that a key will actually activate rather than redirect you straight into Norton. The software still installs on Windows, macOS, and Android, but iOS support was limited mainly to account management rather than on-device protection. Given the end-of-life status, most buyers are better served comparing current suites or moving to the Norton plan that a BullGuard subscription would migrate to. Treat any BullGuard purchase as a legacy or short-term option, not a long-term security plan.

Frequently asked questions about BullGuard Premium Protection

Does BullGuard Premium Protection have its own firewall?

It does not ship a separate firewall engine; it manages the built-in Windows Firewall instead. You can review installed programs and allow or block their internet access from the BullGuard console, while advanced rules such as port restrictions open in Windows' own firewall settings.

Does BullGuard Premium Protection have a dedicated ransomware module?

No. BullGuard relied on its general behavioral anti-malware engine rather than a separate ransomware-specific scanner. Cloud backup is the main recovery path it offered if files were encrypted, so backups should be configured rather than assumed.
